Summer Staff Recommendations

We're all excited for the summer, and some extra time for reading! So we asked our staff if they have some books to recommend. Here’s what we got.

Staff Recommendations:

The Expanse Series by James S.A. Corey

Sci-fi Recommendation from Josh in Support
Set more than 300 years in a future where humanity has colonized the Solar System to the point of even establishing huge colonies on giant asteroids for the purpose of mining them. The story follows a disparate band of protagonists as they unwittingly unravel and place themselves at the center of a conspiracy that threatens the system's fragile peace. All this while dealing with existential crises brought forth by discovering alien technology for the first time in our species history.

The Crown Tower by Michael J. Sullivan

Fantasy Recommendation from Myra in Development
Hadrian is a swordsman, a retired soldier with no real purpose in life. Having received news of his father's death from the professor Arcadius, his last goal is to visit the professor. On his journey north, he encounters strange travelers and stumbles onto a mysterious murder. When he reaches the school, Arcadius teams him up with an unsavory fellow to go steal an ancient book. Somebody knows what's going on, and it's not Hadrian. An exciting fantasy adventure!

Deal Breaker (first book in Myron Bolitar series) by Harlan Coben

Mystery Recommendation from J in Development

Anything by Harlan Coben especially his Myron Bolitar series! The language is not always appropriate for children, but is a great read for adults.

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

Fantasy Recommendation from McKenzie in Development

Quite honestly the less you know about this book before you read it the more fun the story becomes. The main character wakes up with little to no memories as to how he got there. You discover the world and why he is there along with him.

The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare

YA Recommendation from Marie in Operations

One of my favorites! Most Newbury Award winners are a good read.  :)

The Greenglass House by Kate Milford

YA Recommendations from Hilary in Operations

It’s wintertime at Greenglass House. The creaky smuggler’s inn is always quiet during this season, and twelve-year-old Milo, the innkeepers’ adopted son, plans to spend his holidays relaxing. But on the first icy night of vacation, out of nowhere, the guest bell rings... (Goodreads)

Girl on a Wire by Gwenda Bond

Sixteen-year-old Jules Maroni’s dream is to follow in her father’s footsteps as a high-wire walker. When her family is offered a prestigious role in the new Cirque American, it seems that Jules and the Amazing Maronis will finally get the spotlight they deserve. But the presence of the Flying Garcias may derail her plans. (Goodreads)
